The Lighting of the Banyan Tree

 

 

 

 

 

Once again, many gathered under the Banyan Tree Saturday, December 1st, when it lit up simultaneously with The Wharf Cinema Center and the Pioneer Inn to officially kick off Lahaina Town’s holiday season! Crowds gathered on Front Street as everyone was excited to witness the Lighting.

After the lighting concluded, Santa posed for pictures in his sleigh at Santa’s Corner on the Mid-Level of The Wharf, in the Courtyard area next to Amigo’s, and the holiday celebration continued on Center Stage as the Sacred Hearts School Choir, under their Instructor Lori Ulman, delivered a touching performance.

Santa is on his way back to the North Pole but he will return on Second Friday, December 14th. He will be visiting The Wharf Cinema Center for more picture taking at Santa’s Corner from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

Uncle Lui will wrap up the holiday entertainment with performances on December 14, 21 & 28, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The Lighting of The Banyan Tree

Start the Holidays at The Wharf Cinema Center on Saturday, December 1 for the annual Banyan Tree lighting.

Come and join us as The Wharf, The Banyan Tree and the Pioneer Inn all turn on their holiday lights at 6:30 p.m. Right after the Lighting Ceremony, enjoy your favorite Christmas Carols presented by the keiki of Sacred Hearts School Choir on Center Stage from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

While you are here, enjoying the beautiful holiday lights, don’t forget to visit Santa at Santa’s Corner. He will be available for picture taking, upstairs on the mid-level next to Amigo’s, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Santa returns again for picture taking on Friday, December 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

35 Years of Ghoulish Galas!

The Wharf’s 35th Annual Ghoulish Gala Costume Karaoke Contest, once again, drew in many of spectators and fantastic singers in amazing costumes!

It was a great night of celebrating Lahaina’s longest running Halloween Party – 35 years!

The Wharf Cinema Center would like to thank everyone who entered and filled the evening with great Entertainment.

The Grand Prize Winner was Jerome Amo of Wailuku who sang “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” by Jennifer Hudson. Second Place went to Mariah King of Lahaina who sang “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston. Contestant Laurie Cook from Las Vegas brought in 3rd Place with “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey.

Congratulations to The Wharf’s 35th Annual Costume Karaoke Contest Winners and to all of the participants who made the Contest so much fun!

We are proud to present our 35th Annual Costumed Karaoke Contest! What once started out as a small Halloween Contest so many years ago has turned out to be Lahaina’s most “spooktacular” & celebrated event.

Join the fun where it all began at Lahaina’s longest running Halloween Party! Fast forward THIRTY-FIVE YEARS LATER, The Wharf Cinema Center’s ANNUAL HALLOWEEN KARAOKE COSTUME CONTEST is even more popular then ever. YES, it’s still on, and The Wharf Cinema Center will definitely be the “happening” spot and the place to be!

The Ghoulish Gala will take place under the mystic Lahaina sky as night fall. Event begins at 5pm with registration, and contestants can warm up their vocal cords with open mic from 6 to 7pm. The main event starts at 7pm.

Bring the whole Family to celebrate the best Karaoke Contest in West Maui!

Get ready to have a blast in Lahaina! Come and join us here at The Wharf Cinema Center on Wednesday, July 4th, as we celebrate Independence Day. There will be different Events happening throughout the Town; The Wharf, Banyan Tree Park, Campbell Park, Library Lawn and Front Street. Festivities start as early as 9 a.m. To top off the Events, there will be a “Fireworks Spectacular” that starts at 8 p.m.
The Center will be decorated in red, white & blue and we will be hosting specials in both our Shops and Restaurants in celebration of Independence Day. Not only will we have Red, White & Blue Specials but also Live Entertainment. Due to popular demand, special Guest “Nevah Too Late” will be performing again this year, right here on Center Stage from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“So no hesitate to come down and celebrate with us”. Shop, Dine, Celebrate and have a blast right here at The Wharf!
This Event is free and open to the public. See you all then.

Na Kamehameha Commemorative Pa’u Parade & Ho’olaule’a

The grand Na Kamehameha Pa’u Parade 2018 – It’s happening this weekend, on Saturday, June 16.
Starting at approx. 9:45 a.m. from Kenui St. the parade will make its way to Kamehameha `Iki Park down Front Street to Shaw St. The day’s festivities will take place under the Banyan Tree and will last until 5 p.m.
The Wharf Cinema Center is one of the Parade Commentary locations, right upstairs at our very own Cool Cat Cafe.
On Sunday, June 17, the festivities will continue. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can enjoy local Entertainment (Hawaiian Music, Polynesian Dance & Hula), local Crafts, Keiki activities and ono local food.
While you are in Town, make sure to stop by The Wharf for more ono food, shopping and also catch a movie while you are here.

The Banyan Tree Birthday

Make sure to come in to Town this weekend as The Banyan Tree celebrates it’s 145th Birthday. A Birthday celebration you don’t want to miss! Two days of fun filled activities, local crafts and entertainment and even a Birthday cake. The party takes place under The Banyan Tree on Saturday and Sunday, April 21st & 22nd from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cool Cat Cafe’s 15th Anniversary- 6th Annual Classic Car Show

It’s time again – Our very own Cool Cat Cafe is celebrating their 15th Anniversary and you’re invited! It’s happening this 2nd Friday, April 13, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., along Front Street.
Come dressed in your best and rock around the clock to a fun night of celebration.
The Rock ‘n Roll theme wouldn’t be complete without the classic cars. The street will be closed from Lahainaluna Rd. to Prison St. to showcase Maui’s finest classic cruisers of the past decades.
Besides live Entertainment in Campbell Park, Cool Cat’s will be selling their Anniversary T-Shirts and serving Burgers & Malasadas, there will be a burger eating challenge, Classic Car Contest and more.
So come and join us here at The Wharf for a night of excitement and celebration.

Chinese New Year Event 2018

For the 33rd year The Wharf Cinema Center welcomed Chinese New Year – The year of the Dog. Ben Seng Au and Au’s Shaolin Art Society from Oahu wowed the onlookers as Chinese New Year was officially rung in. Crackling fireworks and beating drums quickly woke the hungry lions at the front entrance of The Wharf and the hungry lions danced their way over to the Mid-Level Courtyard Restaurants. Au’s Shaolin Art Society, once again, performed martial arts demonstrations at this years new location much to the delight of this years special guests – Kindergarteners from Kamehameha III and Sacred Hearts, Holy Innocents and Kama’aina Kids Preschools!
This years Event was another success and we look forward to seeing you again next year!

Firecrackers wake the hungry Lions and drums beat as the Festivities begin and the dancing Lions make their way from the Mid-Level Courtyard Restaurants through the Shopping Center to find Lai See. The public is invited to help celebrate this cherished Island Tradition that begins at 11:30 a.m. Admission is FREE.

Lahaina celebrates the annual migration of the Pacific Humpback Whales with the Ocean Arts Festival in Banyan Tree Park from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. Whale Researchers educational presentations and videos will be shown in Campbell Park located next to The Wharf Cinema Center. On Saturday and Sunday at Banyan Tree Park, whale research groups will be available to educate anyone interested in learning more about the magnificent creatures. Artists display their finest marine-themed art pieces for sale, and everyone enjoys Hawaiian entertainment, a kids ocean art contest, whale photo displays and a “Creature Feature” touch pool exhibit by Maui Ocean Center. Admission is FREE.

The celebration includes a birthday cake, a magician, live music, a silent Auction, Keiki games, as well as nature-inspired artworks by local artists. There’s something fun for everyone, including hands-on art activities for children. Visitors and residents fill Banyan Square to pay their respect to the venerable tree during this annual celebration. Admission is FREE.

Pa’u riders and princesses on horseback, decorated with flowers and colors representing each of the Islands, parade down Front Street at this annual parade honoring the king who united the Hawaiian Islands, King Kamehameha. There are marching bands, floats, decorated vehicles, and walking units for all of Lahaina to enjoy. A festival and awards ceremony takes place after the parade an Banyan Park. Beginning at approximately 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., activities are scheduled at Banyan Park. The parade starts at 9:45 a.m. from Papalaua Street, ending at Kamehameha Iki Park.

Second place went to Mariah King of Lahaina who sang “I will Survive”. Contestant Angela Albertson from Kihei brought in 3rd place wiht “Zombie”. Congratulations to The Wharf’s 34th Annual Costume Karaoke Contest winners and Mahalo to all of the participants who made the contest so much fun!
